HC: What is the most rewarding thing about being a part of your organization?
HB: The most rewarding thing about being a part of my organization has to be the connections and the brotherhood. Beta Chi is a family and we’re honestly everywhere.
HC: Do you feel as though being Greek changes people?
HB: No I don’t. I’m still the same person that I was before I joined the organization. I hang out with the same people, I do the same things.
HC: Do you feel like having a lot of Greek in your family had a big influence on why you decided to join your organization?
HB: Most definitely. That’s all I grew up around, specifically AKA’s and Nupes. It played a big part in why I sought out to join this Greek Organization. So when I went to college it was almost second nature.
HC: Do you believe that it’s possible to date another Greek, or are you opposed?
HB: Yes I think it’s very possible to date another Greek. It’s just two people that are dating and they just so happen to both be Greek.
HC: What’s the best thing about having line brothers?
HB: Never going without…. Like your Brothers will always have you.
HC: Do you believe that the stereotypes about your organization are true? Why or why not?
HB: I don’t feel that they’re ALL necessarily true. I mean, the stereotypes about us being “Pretty boys” and “Supah pimps” is pretty accurate, but not all stereotypes are true. That goes for anything in general.
HC: Do you feel like girls throw themselves at you now that you’re Greek?
HB: “Throw”, sounds so derogatory. There’s girls that try to get my attention when I’m out there shimmying, but I definitely wouldn’t say “throw”. I’d say more so ‘”Pursue”
HC: Who are you outside of being, Hollis the Nupe?
HB: I’m just regular Hollis from Sacramento, California. The same person from Freshman year in Pre-college.
HC: What’s been your favorite part about being Greek so far?
HB: It has to be meeting older brother who crossed in the 70’s. I love hearing their stories and they’re honestly no different than us younger Nupes.
HC: What would your advice be to other people who aspire to be like you?
HB: Who wants to be like somebody? Don’t be like me, be better than me. And be smart about your moves as well, everyone doesn’t need to know your business.
HC: How do you balance your social life and school?
HB: School comes first. If I have work due next week, I’m going to do it as early as possible.
