Great Waxing Places in the 757

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hampton U chapter.

Ladies, how many times have you shaved your vagina, had it all nice, clean, & bald just to see that you have an annoying razor bump? Not only are they unsightly, but sometimes they can hurt! A great alternative to shaving is waxing, and there are some great places nearby that you can try and I promise you’ll be sure to love!

First of all, you need to know the difference between the waxes that you’ll be asking for:

A hard wax is also known as a Brazilian or Bikini wax and involves using hot wax to remove the hair without strips. It’s used to get large amounts of hair off your  vaginal/ genital area.

A soft wax is usually used on larger areas of the body like the legs, arms, and armpits. It’s used with paper or muslin strips, and is similar to how you get waxed when you get your eyebrows done.

Now there are other kinds of waxes that are specific to the salon that you go to such as a French wax (it’s sort of like a Brazilian, except you leave a strip of hair going down the front), Naugthy Modified Brazilian, Deepline Bikini, the list goes on. If you have any questions, be sure to ask the receptionist or the technician before you get waxed so you have an accurate understanding of what you’re getting yourself into.

Chez Madeleine Salon

Located at 709 North Birdneck Road Virginia Beach, VA 2345, this salon offers several services that are sure to fit your needs. Their waxing services are below $80 which is great! Their price list can be found here.

Anjelle Paulette Spa & Style Bar

Located at 110 W. 20th Street Norfolk, VA 23517, this salon offers various types of waxes, variations of Brazilian waxes, and more! They even offer spa parties, discounts, and package deals. Check out their price list here.

European Wax Center

The fan favorite amongst women and men everywhere, the European Wax Center is a great place to try if you’re just getting into waxing, or if you’re looking for a place you trust. They have pretty reasonable prices, and even offer you a free wax if it’s your first time going! (Just note, the free wax is only a free Bikini wax not an entire Brazilian wax.) The closest one to HU is located at 12080 Jefferson Avenue Newport News, VA 23606.

Smooth

This place looks really promising from the website, and they even feature bios and short descriptions of their team which I think is really helpful! They’re very reasonably priced with their most expensive wax costing you $80, and they offer a ton a different types of waxes. Check out their price list here and be sure to check out the rest of the site as well. There are two locations for this salon, at Port Warwick at 3168 William Styron Square, Newport News 23606 and at the Monticello Arcade building at the intersection of City Hall Ave and Monticello Ave in Downtown Norfolk.

Animare Salon & Spa

Conveniently located in the Peninsula Town Center in Hampton and the City Center at Oyster Point in Newport News, Animare Salon and Spa offers a variety of services at reasonable prices. They offer various types of waxes, promotions, and other services that you can benefit from. Check out the price list here!

Whichever place you choose make sure that you haven’t shaved for at least two-three weeks before you go, that you drink a lot of water, and remember that beauty is pain! The first few waxes you get will be super painful but just think, you’ll be hair free for at least a month and a half. After you’re done, be sure to take some Tylenol and wear cotton underwear for the first day after you get waxed to help alleviate the pain and to make sure that your vagina doesn’t get irritated. Happy waxing!
