Game Face of the Week: Meshala Morton

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hampton U chapter.

This week’s “Game Face” of the week is the one and only Meshala Morton! Meshala is a graduating senior (key word GRADUATING), majoring in Kinesiology with a minor in psychology from Stanford, Virginia. Her leadership and dedication to the Track & Field is what qualifies her for “GAME FACE” of the week. Morton also has a love  for photography and takes photos on her free time! Keep reading to learn more about this fabulous athlete slaying both the classroom and track.

HC: How long have you competed in Track and Field?

MM: I’ve competed for 8 years.

HC: If you had a chance to be a professional athlete, would you?

MM: Yes, my dream is to run in the Olympics.

HC: What is your daily motivation for times you don’t want to run?

MM: I motivate myself by always thinking things could ALWAYS be worse, and to be grateful for the ability by doing my best

HC: What is your meet day song?

MM: My meet day song nowadays is “No Problems” by Chance the Rapper. That song just makes me so hype.

HC: Who is your inspiration?

MM: My inspiration is my dad because he has led by example. He always does what he has to do to the best of his best ability, no matter how he’s feeling.

HC: Describe your relationship with Track and Field?

MM: My relationship with track is love-hate. I love when I see my progression in practice and at track meets but when I feel stuck and lose sight for my goal I hate it.

Be sure to look out for Morton this year on the track! And don’t forget she takes professional pictures, so she’ll defiantly hook you up. Be sure to follow her on social media!
