It’s time for fall that means the leaves are turning colors, and the temperatures dropping. The seasons are changing, and that means your makeup should too. It’s time to take a good look at your makeup bag and make sure that you have all of the fall essentials during this season. So lets prepare to swap out those bright colors and cool tones, for more neutral palettes and warm hues.

Brow Gel

Defined eyebrows are essential during every season, not just the fall. However, this season, using brow gels to define and shape unruly brows has become the trend. Gels not only darken and define, but the gel lasts all day for a flawless face. NYX brow gels are an affordable choice that gives great results.

Matte Lips

This season, matte lip colors are a must-have. Make sure to find a lip liner that complements your skin tone. Finding a lip for brown doesn’t have to be difficult, and contrary to popular belief black women can wear any color lip. Just make sure to find a matte color that doesn’t look ashy. A good place to start is the MAC matte line; a trendy color for this season is MAC Stone with MAC Chestnut liner.

Dark Lippies

You don’t always have to go for a matte or nude color. This fall dark colors are back. Sorry, but it’s time to put away the corals and bright pinks. This fall is all about dark reds and purples. As always find liner like MAC Nightmoth or another vampy color to pair with a dark lip color like the one pictured, NARS Train Bleu.

Bronzer

Don’t be fooled, bronzer is still necessary for the fall and it doesn’t matter how much melanin is in your skin a good bronzer is always needed. Bronzer simply mimics the illusion of the sun’s natural glow, since you won’t be out in the sun that often during the fall months switch to matte bronzer. Make sure to apply that bronzer in select areas as a highlight; the fall months are not the time for an all over shimmer. Try CoverGirl Queen Collection Natural Hue Bronzer for a dusting of summertime radiance in the fall.

“No makeup” Makeup

The last tip isn’t one specific makeup essential but rather an entire look. This fall, opt for “No Make Up” Make Up which uses barely there makeup to add an effortless glow. This look is great for running to class, or the cafe and incorporates concealer, defined brows and bronzer. Make sure to stay away from eyeliner, contour powder, and colored lipsticks. The point of this look is to look like you have nothing on.
