Ladies, how many times have you seen a girl, and her weave was just on fleek? From the texture, to the shine, to the body, it just looked too good! But then suddenly your eyes are drawn to the top of her head, where her leave out isn’t blending with her gorgeous Brazilian bundles. It’s heat damaged, dry, and crying for help. Or worse, has this girl ever been you?

Three words: Get. A. Closure.

No seriously, they’re affordable, are a great protective style, and blend naturally with the weave texture that you purchased. I’m personally a huge advocate for closures, I’ve been getting them since I was a junior in high school, and it is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

This is a great alternative to having leave out, especially during the winter months when our hair and skin has the tendency to get super dry. Think about it, you can do the same things you would do to your leave out with your closure without causing any damage to your hair at all!

Two Hamptonians, Mion Edwards and Naya Jacobs, have closures and they look just like their own hair. Both girls got them from different vendors and from different states, but they serve the same purpose: being a protective style to your own hair.

Mion, a sophomore Journalism major from Washington DC, has in her Brazilian body wave lace closure that she received from Queen Virgin Remy. She has had it in for two weeks, and she got it for $100.

Naya Jacobs, a sophomore Strategic Communications major from New Castle, DE got her closure from the store Hair Beauty in her hometown of New Castle. It is a 16”, Brazilian straight, silk closure and she paid $32 for hers.

As you can see, closures are an excellent alternative to damaging to your leave out. Plus it looks so much better with your bundles! In the past I have purchased closures from the Aliexpress vendor Cexxy Hair, a New Jersey based vendor B. Antonio Hair Supply, and the one I am wearing now is from Ultimate Hair World.

With my closure I was able to color my hair, and I am able to touch up my curls with a curling wand as often as I want, all without causing any damage to my own hair. This closure is a 12”, Brazilian, lace closure and it was $85.

There are hundreds of vendors that sell closures and will even include it in a bundle deal for a discounted price. Don’t be scared to get it because it’ll look “fake” or “unnatural” because I promise you it won’t. Just shop around, compare prices, read a couple reviews, and get yourself a closure! You and your leave out will thank me later.
