Are Men Accepting of A Woman’s Beauty preference?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hampton U chapter.

In society today, it is more common to see women with fake hair. Typically, the reason for this would be for wanting protection over one’s natural hair. Natural hair is precious because it could be damaged from excessive amounts of heat and/or improper care. By utilizing protective hairstyles, you are promoting hair growth and are maintaining healthy hair. In a protective style, your hair is not being manipulated as much. In addition, you are not limited to one hairstyle. An individual has the opportunity to try different looks and this allows for an individual to showcase their creativity and personality through preference of hairstyle.

I took the time to interview a few guys about fake hair and this was their response:

“I like it personally, it really adds, in a sense, a whole new personality to that specific woman, I think everyone should do it as much as they please. It’s tuff!”

“I personally don’t see a problem with fake hair. It allows for diversity when it comes to looks and it also aids in protecting the natural hair allowing to remain healthy.”

Oftentimes, we learn that men prefer a natural look over a made up look. Some argue that makeup and fake hair are not necessary, and it is relied on too much in our everyday appearances. While others agree with the perspectives that have been provided. It is important to understand the motive behind wearing fake hair and makeup. Some women use it as a confidence boost, while others want to simply grow their hair. Instead of judging a woman for her personal choices, moving forward men should try to become more understanding of the reason behind a woman’s beauty preference.
