5 Ways to Stay Motivated During Online Learning

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hampton U chapter.

Learning online can be difficult especially when you did not sign up for online school, to begin with. However, staying motivated can be the key to ending this first semester off strong. Here are five ways you can stay motivated when learning online. Learning online can be difficult especially when you did not sign up for online school, to begin with. However, staying motivated can be the key to ending this first semester off strong. Here are five ways you can stay motivated when learning online.

Look at the bigger picture

We are all studying to get one thing. Our degree. Keep your eye on the prize. Think about how happy you will be seeing that “A” for the semester on your transcript. Think about how proud you will be walking across the graduation stage to receive your diploma. Always think about the bigger picture. I guarantee you will feel more motivated to finish this semester.

 Connect with your peers

Connecting with people in your online classes can be very beneficial. Knowing that other people are going through the same thing as you can help your mental stability and help keep you motivated. Try reaching out through social media or even joining the class group chats. Doing this will give you the support you need on your online journey.

Attack all deadlines

I don’t know about you guys, but it feels so good when I turn my assignments in EARLY. Doing this will keep you on the right track. Waiting until the day before to do your 5-page essay will only slow you down and make you lose motivation. So when you get that new assignment, do yourself a favor and start it the same day it is assigned.

Get out of bed

Other than my kitchen, my favorite place in my house is my bed. Having an online class is so great because all I have to do is roll over and open my computer. However, 15 minutes into the class and I am back to sleep. Getting out of bed will make you feel like you are actually in a classroom setting and it might help you get through a day full of classes.

Stay positive

The words you speak upon your life are powerful. Instead of saying, I hate online school, it’s not for me. Try saying, I can do this, or I am bigger than this. Speaking words of encouragement can make or break your motivation upon the remainder of this semester. Manifest ladies!

Hopefully, after reading this article, you have some insight on staying motivated while sitting behind your computer screen. There are so many ways to stay in high spirits, but these five will hopefully lead you to have a successful semester online!
