The semester is almost over, we’re about to turn in our 10 page papers and semester long projects. Winter break has finally arrived! It’s now time to relax and sit back without a deadline hanging over our heads or professors breathing down our necks. It’s finally our time to join the conversation and watch those shows everyone has been talking about. So, here are 10 shows to binge over break. Happy Binge Watching!

  1. Atypical

A heartfelt comedy about Sam, a teenager on the autism spectrum who has made the decision to enter the world of romance and hopefully find love. However, for Sam to start dating he has to learn to be more independent which throws his family for a loop. Sam is a young man who knows what he wants and is ready to take the steps to get just that. So tune in, you could learn a thing or two…. just saying.

2. Jane the Virgin

This one has held a spot on many must watch lists and that alone should tell you that it’s a hit. With four juicy seasons of Telenovela worthy drama, you have to tune in. I mean how could a virgin be pregnant? That sentence alone locked me in.

3. Game Of Thrones

Game of Thrones. Three words I know you are familiar with. I haven’t yet had the chance to watch this show, but G.O.T has been a hot commodity for some time now, so this is our chance. Based on George R.R. Martin’s best-selling book series “A Song of Ice and Fire” a medieval fantasy epic was created. With the depiction of two powerful families playing a deadly game for control of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, it’s going to be a nail biter.

4. This Is Us

Now it’s time to get emotional. I couldn’t just give you a list of drama and comedy. A tear dropper had to be thrown in here! This heartwarming story about a unique set of triplets and their parents as they go through the struggles of life is just what this show is about. So, trust me, you’ll need to grab some tissues.

5. Handmaid’s Tale

Another wonderful drama based on a best-selling novel, this dramatic series is set in Gilead, a totalitarian society. Gilead is ruled by a fundamentalist regime that is faced with environmental disasters and a plummeting birth rate where women are treated as property. In a desperate attempt to repopulate a devastated world, the few remaining fertile women are forced into sexual servitude. However, there’s always one strong minded woman who’s not going for it and Olfred made it her mission to survive this terrifying world and get out to find her daughter.

6. Greenleaf

Oh honey! Drama, Drama, Drama! From adultery, greed, scandalous secrets, lies, and sibling rivalry, let me not forget to add this is all happening in the church. Trust me you will never be without entertainment with the Greenleaf family at Calvary.

7. Ozark

This dramatic series stars a financial planner who has relocated his family from Chicago to a summer resort community in the Ozarks. Not only has he moved his family to a new town but Marty is also on the move after a money-laundering scheme went wrong, forcing him to pay off a substantial debt to a Mexican drug lord in order to keep his family safe. What could be better than a drug lord and a new town? Now, that’s drama!

8. Everything Sucks

Let’s take a break from the drama filled series and take it back to the 1990s. A group of outcasts from Boring High School’s AV and drama club decide to grab the reins of their teenage lives. These two nerdy groups are fed up with not being taken seriously so they join forces to come up with something that will get them noticed.

9. End of the F*cking World

If yall want a laugh, here’s one. Two 17-year-old outsiders, James and Alyssa, embark on a road trip to find her estranged father, who left home when she was just a child. James, who is convinced he’s a psychopath, has decided it’s time to graduate from killing animals to something bigger and that would be Alyssa. Together, they get caught up on a trail of violent events that grow increasingly more violent as they continue.

10. Black Mirror

Now, this is a true treat and just in time for break because new episodes are dropping December 1st. These stand alone dramas are suspenseful, sharp and captivating. Each story stars it’s own unique cast so it’s like a little surprise every episode.

Grab your snacks and blanket and leave your mark on your favorite couch. Happy Binge watching!
