Despite being released nearly 5 years ago, Reply 1988 is one of the favorite shows of Netflix users. It continuously appears in the Top 10 Most-Watched Movies of the Day. Reply 1988 is the third part of Shin Won Ho’s Reply series. When it was released, the television show was a hit across Asia with great ratings. Because of the series’ setting, music, and feel-good family and friend dynamics, it’s definitely a Korean series to watch!

In the middle of this chaotic time of negative news and stressful rumors, a simple loving show like Reply 1988 will definitely help you feel lighter. Right from the first episodes of Reply 1988, the audience has the opportunity to laugh and cry at the story of the hearts of parents. The show is full of simple stories like the worry of Sun Woo’s mother when her son grows a beard and she does not know what to do, or Hyeri’s confusion at unknowingly hurting his daughter, or Duk Sun’s mother watching the savings book all day and is happy that the children have money to go to school. These are all small yet powerful moments that will make the audience choke-up. Watching the show, the audience will likely see into the lives of their own parents, who wake early in the morning and silently sacrifice without ever complaining.

There are no villains, and no struggles or intense conflicts. Reply 1998 is gentle but it does not cause drowsiness. It is full of laughter and tears. The previous two installments (Reply 1997 and Reply 1994) mainly revolved around the story of young people, first love, and friendship, while Reply 1988 explores the overall relationship of the five families living in the same area. Five children live in the five small families, the rich, the poor, the giddy, and the one growing up too fast, but no one has to live without family love.

Reply 1988 is a show that brings positive energy about family, friendship, and love in a simple but emotional way. The show revolves around five children from five different families with amazing parents as they grow up in the same neighborhood. All of the parents do their best to give their children a full and happy life.

Not only family love, but the story of friendship in the poor neighborhood will certainly bring viewers a very peaceful feeling. The friends grow up together, crying, laughing, learning, and moving away. They play with each other not because of material, financial, even interest in a cowardly friend or his friend could not go to school. The adults too, always treat each other very nicely, from sharing each other from meals to telling each other all the usual sadness day.

Reply 1988 is an always fresh series that we can enjoy every season of the year. Reply 1988 is full of nostalgia, simplicity, and cuteness that will make people feel like returning to their childhood days. Watching the show, the audience will get lost in the 80s fashion from the curly hair of the mothers to the crazy makeup of the girls that used to be all the rage. The 80s setting of the show is carefully and accurately constructed, and is just another reason the show is a great escape.

The amazing music is also a factor in the great success of Reply 1988. The soundtrack, makes listeners relate to a show imbued with the nostalgia of director Shin Won Ho, even if it is from a time before they were born.

Enjoy Reply 1988 with your family. It’s a must-watch and available on Netflix. You won’t regret it, I promise.
