A Quick Guide to Starbucks’ Holiday Drink Menu

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hamline chapter.

Like it or not, winter is coming. The temperature is cooling down and we’re beginning to see snowflakes more and more frequently. Soon we’ll all need to wear coats and mittens and we’ll trudge through inches of snow on our way to class. However, there is a bright side! Nothing is cozier than grabbing a seat by the fireplace in Anderson Center and curling up with some reading and a hot drink. Starbucks even has their special holiday drink menu to help us welcome winter. For those of us with favorite drink orders, it can be daunting to order something new though. Here’s a short guide to their holiday flavors to get you started on that winter cheer:

(All holiday flavors are available in hot, iced, and Frappuccino (blended) forms!)

Caramel Brulée Latte:

A yummy latte with caramel brulée sauce topped with tiny chips of melt-in-your-mouth caramel. Tip: if you’re getting a hot drink these chips melt fast, so if you want to eat them, take off the lid and do that first!

Peppermint Mocha:

A mocha with peppermint sauce, whipped cream, and delicate chocolate curls on top. Nothing reminds me of the holidays more than the combination of peppermints and chocolate!

Toasted White Chocolate Mocha:

This drink is super Instagrammable with a topping of whipped cream, red sugar and edible pearls. Under the whipped cream, it’s a latte with caramelized white chocolate flavors.

Chestnut Praline Latte:

This is my favorite holiday drink! Flavors of chestnut and caramel are what make this latte exceptional. It’s topped with whipped cream and praline crumbs. (Praline is a candy filling made from sugar and nuts).

Gingerbread Latte:

A latte with gingerbread flavoring, whipped cream, and ground nutmeg. Starbucks describes the gingerbread flavor as “sweet and delicately spicy,” if you’re into that.

Eggnog Latte:

Eggnog is super divisive: you either love it or you hate it. This latte is actually made with steamed eggnog, so if you’re a ‘nog-hater you should probably skip this drink. The rest of us will enjoy it with its whipped cream and nutmeg topping.

Hopefully that should get you started on your hunt for the perfect fireside drink! Starbucks holiday flavors are truly my favorites and something I look forward to year-round. I even love them as Frappuccinos on the coldest of Minnesota days! With the variety of options, the holiday menu truly has something for everyone. What’s your favorite holiday drink? Let us know on social media!
