Halloween To-do List

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hamline chapter.

Summer is over and fall is officially here. So many people may be dreading what is ahead, but let us not forget Halloween is just around the corner. Here are the top 10 things that are  a must do for this Halloween holiday.

1.  those sweater weather clothes out:

There are so many cute clothes for fall. Get out your sweaters and pair it up with leggings, boots and a cute scarf.

2. Jump into a pile of leaves or enjoy a hayride:

If you have a yard, get out there and rake the leaves into a pile. Be a kid again and jump in. If jumping into a pile of leaves isn’t your thing, then go for  a hay ride. Gather some friends and make sure to gather some friends for a selfie.

3. Enjoy the last bonfires:

If you live in an area where it snows, fall is your last chance to enjoy a bonfire.  Snuggle under a blanket, roast some marshmallows and tell some spooky stories.

4. Go to an apple orchard/ pumpkin patch:

Go to an apple orchard and get some goodies. Enjoy the crisp air and pick out a pumpkin for your halloween decorations.

5. Drink apple cider or hot chocolate:

While you are at the apple orchard/ pumpkin patch get something warm to drink.  There is nothing like fresh apple cider during a cold day.

6. Decorate your house and carve a pumpkin:

Decorate your place with those pumpkins you got at the patch. Make cute fall arrangements with flowers and leaves. Get some wall stickers of witches’ hats, black cats, scarecrows and much more.

7. Pick out your costume:

Whether you are a scary ghoul or a fairy princess, just make sure your costume is respectful of other cultures.  Even if dressing up is not your favorite thing to do, it is still fun to look at all the different costumes available.

8. Go to a haunted house:

If you can handle the scare, go to a haunted house. If not, go with a group of friends.  Afterwards, get a selfie with the cast. Hamline will be hosting a Haunted Hallway on Oct. 25 in Manor basement.

9. Watch those spooky movies:

Snuggle up at night and watch all those Halloween movies, whether they are cheesy or horror. Some personal favorites are Hocus Pocus, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Beetle Juice, and It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown.

10. Party with the ghosts or stay in for those trick-or-treaters:

Host a party. Make sure to have a bonfire, bobbing for apples and a movie going on. If you are not a partier, invite some of your friends for a movie night and give out candy.

So go out and enjoy the fall weather. Decorate your house and get ready for all the candy coma this Halloween.
