Did you watch the Oscars but still aren’t sure who exactly everyone is? Here’s our guide!Â
Best Supporting Actor: Christoph Waltz
Now I follow my fair share of celebrity news and gossip, and he has literally shown up nowhere. Talk about boring! As for is speech, he used too many metaphors for my taste and even quoted his character that he won the award for. To top it all off, he called his director a hero…anyone else think that’s a little much?
Best Supporting Actress: Anne Hathaway
She was on the verge of crying throughout her entire speech in addition to some nervous laughter, which is actually kind of cute, so I don’t blame her for that. What I do blame her for is literally naming every person she has ever met and thanking them for their help in her success. I’m surprised the music did not cut her off because the list seemed never ending. To end her speech, she attempted to give some sage advice; let’s not forget Anne you’re claim to fame was The Princess Diaries…
Best Song: Adele
Literally love this girl; she does no wrong in my eyes. During her acceptance speech she laughed loudly, started blubbering, and had a few stutters. She was true to herself and didn’t sound rehearsed; she truly was surprised and honored to win and I can appreciate that. Adele I hope you keep winning, because your loud-mouthed accent is always the highlight of every award show.
Best Director: Ang Lee
Ang is a very cute and earnest man. Funniest line he said: “thank you movie god” and then the cheesiest: “to the cast, you’re the golden statue in my heart”. He took time out to thank his wife and it was adorable. Overall a decent speech, he could have done without the long list of names again but somehow I liked this list better than Anne’s list.

Best Lead Actress: Jennifer Lawrence
I’m sure you’ve all seen the gif of J.Law falling down on her way up to accept her award. Girl handles it flawlessly, “You guys are just standing up because I fell down but thank you.” I can’t even remember anything significant in her speech, but it made me cry and that takes a lot. Jen, we love you and your ability to act your age and act like yourself despite everyone telling you otherwise!
Best Lead Actor: Daniel Day Lewis
Who knew this serious method actor was also a comedian? Lewis cracked jokes all the way through, even made a joke about Meryl Streep who presented him with the award. Honestly the highlight of his win was seeing Meryl, I mean who doesn’t love her?
Best Motion Picture: Argo
In a very awkward fashion, the non-famous producer speaks first and says “I know what you’re thinking, the three sexiest producers alive” (in reference to him, Ben Affleck and George Clooney). I loved this, added appropriate and accurate humor but Ben Affleck nearly ruined it. He could not have stuttered anymore and starting crying when thanking his kids. Now I forgive Ben for his rambling antics because he is just so darn cute and sincere.
There were other rewards, but we all know we watch the show for these six!Â
