John Kennedy ’14

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hamilton chapter.

Name: John Kennedy
Class Year: 2014
Major(s): Economics
Relationship Status: Single

What activities are you involved in on campus?
I’m Chair of the Student Media Board, Layout Editor for the Duel Observer, e-board member for Alternative Spring Break, gold glover for IM softball, and an intern with the Annual Fund. I also frat pretty hard in the Econ society OΔE, but that’s just my outlet.

What do your friends make fun of you for?
Definitely how excited I get about the Holidays. After Thanksgiving break, my room will be 24/7 Christmas music, lights, garland, tinsel, eggnog, Santa statues, fauxfire.com, and a tree. Always a real tree. It’ll look like Father Christmas and Jesus got a double together in Milbank.

If you were a building on campus, which would you be?
I might be South. I think I’m a lot of sophomores’ last chance before they have to go down to Bundy. It’s kind of a sore subject, actually.

What Hamilton policy would you break if you knew you wouldn’t get caught?
The one where you can’t ride the Science Center alligators down the hill to the VT (thanks, Obama).

What is your spirit animal?
One time, a beautiful brown flightless kiwi bird came to me in a vision and told me always to follow my dreams. Even if it couldn’t fly, I still could. So I guess that kiwi bird. Or peyote. Can peyote be a spirit animal? If so then definitely peyote.

What’s your dream job?
I think “world champion catfish noodler” would be up my alley. If not that, I heard about this place called the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab. They pay economists a lot of money to travel around the world doing awesome research on the best ways to reduce poverty. I think that would be amazing.

If you could be anyone else on campus for a day, who would you be and why?
I would love to see the world through Doc Woods’ eyes one day. It’d be great to have all his jokes and truisms up my sleeve for a full 24 hours.

Who would you want to play you in a movie version of your life?
There are so many people I think could do a good job. Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s got the looks down, but for my personality and cadence I think Keanu Reeves just nails it. If we’re talking about an animated movie, Jeremy Irons (Scar from The Lion King) would definitely be my voice actor. I’d try to work all three into the script.
