Isla Ng is that girl wearing those awesome pants. Next time you are at party don’t be afraid to introduce yourself. She’s as sweet as can be, super witty and has plenty to say when it comes to women’s issues.

Name: Isla Ng

Hometown: Staten Island, New York

Year: Freshman

Prospective Major: Undecided

Relationship Status: Single

What are you involved in on campus?

Currently I’m on the E-board of the Womyn’s Center and am working as a research assistant in the Digital Humanities department

How would you describe your style?

Goodwill. Poppin’ tagsss. Yeah honestly most of my stuff is from second-hand stores but I have my retail-splurge moments

What is your favorite item in your wardrobe?

I wear my mom’s old wax Barbour jacket all the time. It’s over 20 years old and it’s pretty ragged, but I don’t know, I just love it cause my mom used to wear it when she was a young mother and it reminds me of when I was a little kid. Actually, I distinctly remember thinking it was really ugly. I guess it is pretty ugly, but it has an old charm to it.

Polka dots or stripes?

Stripes

Zebra or cheetah print?

Cheetah

Favorite food/drink to order at Opus?

Dirty chai latte ;)

In spirit, are you a light sider or a dark sider?

I’ve been very often told that I give off a “darkside vibe,” I don’t know though; I feel like I’m kind of a pseudo-darksider cause real darksiders are all like artists/thespians/dancers/musicians whereas I just kinda wear funky pants and spend too much time on Tumblr

Most important trait in a guy?

Oh, where do I begin? As a feminist I care a lot about the respect that a guy has for women. But that’s not just about equality; it’s about not having archaic or archetypal expectations for what a young woman should be. I would want to date someone who doesn’t make presumptions about who I am or how I should act. So I guess my most valued trait is the ability to judge with a discerning and accepting mind.

What are some adjectives your friends who use to describe you?

Lazy and skinny are probably the ones I get the most.

Katherine is currently a sophomore at Hamilton College. She loves her school, penguins, dancing and is always down for a good adventure.
