Happy Halloweekend!
All week long Hamilton students have been preparing for Halloween, which is a multi-day event in college. Last-minute trips to the mall have people buzzing about what their peers will dress up as – a classic witch, a lazy “costume” t-shirt, a beloved fictional character, or perhaps even a sexy founding father? I love Halloween, and one of my favorite parts is seeing how people choose to express their creativity by picking a costume.
There are many events and fundraisers on campus contributing to the Halloween spirit. Hogwarts at Hamilton, an annual tradition, will be putting on shows Friday and Saturday night inspired by the magical and sometimes spooky world of Harry Potter. Earlier show times both nights are family-friendly, while later shows are probably more appropriate for college students only! The great thing about Hogwarts at Hamilton is that although the shows are free, they will be accepting donations to benefit the Clinton Library.
The Hamilton Christian Fellowship has been raising money this week for an upcoming retreat, taking orders for goodie bags filled with yummy fall-themed baked goods. The Philanthropy Committee has also organized a fundraiser for the ABC House in Utica, which offers after-school programs for kids in the area. They sold candy grams, cute bags of candy they delivered to people’s mailboxes.
After what seems to have been quite a busy week for everyone, I hope you all have a great Halloweekend! Maybe you’ll find something sweet in your mailbox, or check out Hogwarts without even leaving campus. Have fun!
