Meet Abby Pynchon ’16, the coordinator of PBX’s fundraiser, “Cookies for a Cause!”
WHAT? Our fundraiser was called “Cookies for a Cause” and it was co-sponsored by PBX and beCAUSE, which is a program through Sadove. We baked cookies and then people had the opportunity to come in and decorate them and donate if they wanted to.
WHY? 100% of the proceeds we raised went to Dana Farber Ovarian Cancer Institute. We chose this cause because one of the girls in PBX had a family member whom Dana Farber had a significant impact on when she was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer.
HOW MUCH WAS RAISED? We raised almost $300. 5: In terms of future Fundraising plans for PBX, we are highly involved in Habitat for Humanity and try to send a group of girls to a work site about once a month, which has been a really positive experience for all of us, so we will definitely be continuing that.
WHAT’S TO COME…? For next semester, the organization we will be donating to is going to have something to do with depression and suicide prevention amongst teenage girls and we will definitely be having more fundraising events for that!
