5 Great Alternatives to Lululemon’s Activewear

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hamilton chapter.

Just about everyone has heard of Lululemon’s famous leggings. Rumor has it they make your butt look fabulous and don’t fall down during exercise. As a result, they have gained a ridiculous reputation that facilitates their absurdly expensive price. Unfortunately, not everyone can afford to pay that price, especially not on a college budget, so here are some great alternative stores to find comparably cute active wear at a more affordable price.

1. Lucy

Lucy leggings are expensive, but unlike Lululemon they actually have regular sales that bring their leggings down into the $40-$50 range. Although that price is still a bit of a splurge, their legging quality is the closest I have found to Lululemon.

2. Athleta

Athleta is a branch of Gap, so you know you are going to get a decent quality piece of clothing for a reasonable price. They have a ton of really cute quarter zips as well as some fun work out tanks that won’t break the bank. (On sale some of these tanks drop to as low as $10!)

3. Old Navy

If you really want the look for cheap, then check out Old Navy. It offers some really cute work out tanks for $15 that mimic popular Lululemon and Lucy styles. They also have some funky patterned mid-calf leggings for under $30.

4. Amazon

Amazon not only carries some of the above mentioned brands at discounted prices it also sells a lot of knock-off styles for cheap. Specifically, they have tons of sports bras that resemble the strappy ones from Lululemon, although quality is not guaranteed.

5. T.J. Maxx and Marshalls

This might seem obvious, but T.J. Maxx and Marshalls carry some great athletic brands for super discounted prices. You can find Lucy, Calvin Klein, Nike and many more if you look hard enough!
