When I wake up in the morning, I pour my Green Mountain Coffee, add a little bit of fat free Half-and-Half and one packet of Truvia, and I’m good to go! Truvia is a natural, zero-calorie sweetener made with rebiana, the best-tasting part of the stevia leaf. I know—you heard the word “sweetener” and turned to run the other way. However, I can promise you that this natural sugar-substitute does not have a nasty after-taste, nor does it make you bloat like some other sweeteners might. Truvia adds the same sweetness as 2 teaspoons of sugar, which is the perfect amount for an 8-oz cup of coffee or tea. After having used Agave Nectar, Splenda and Honey to sweeten my coffee, I have officially switched to Truvia as my sweetener of choice.

So where do you find Truvia? Well, for starters, you can find it at the Starbucks in Georgetown’s Barnes and Noble. Too far to walk? You can also find it in Whole Foods right on campus, in CVS Pharmacies throughout DC and in grocery stores all over the country. It’s available in boxes of 40-count ($3.99), 80-count ($6.49) and 140-count ($10.99) packets at the respective suggested retail prices. Truvia spoonable is the equivalent in servings of an 80-count box of Truvia natural sweetener and can be found at the suggested retail price of $6.99.

So grab a packet with you when you go to grab a coffee in the Marvin Center, or in the Starbucks under Gelman. Make Truvia your sweetener of choice.
