Stressing about what to wear for a Halloween party? Look no further! Here are 12 easy, affordable, and stylish DIY costumes you can wear this Halloween season.

burn book from mean girls

This costume is simple and cute. If you have a pink shirt or dress, that’s the main thing you need! You’re all set as long as you have access to a printer, paper, scissors, stick-on velcro (or just good tape)! Here’s what you’ll do:

-Look up a good image of the burn book letters.

-Print it. (Preferably in color)

-Cut out the letters (Don’t forget the kiss mark!) and use stick-on velcro or good tape to stick the letters on.

-And finally, have an attitude like a Plastic.

curella deville

If you saw the Disney live action film, I’m sure the fashion trends that started last year will come back this Halloween. Here’s what you’ll do:

-Depending on your hair color, buy black hair spray (for natural lighter hair) or buy white hair dye spray (for natural darker hair) You’ll then spray only half of your hair.

-You could also buy a black and white wig too.

-Wear all-black clothing or white with black dots.

ghost or ghoul

This could go two ways:

-Find a white sheet, cut two eye holes, and put it over your head.

-Or you can wear all white clothing and buy a white wig (or white hair dye spray). You can call yourself a ghoul to feel like you put more thought into a ghost costume.

sexy cat

Here is another simple and cute costume. Here’s what you’ll do:

-Wear all-black clothing or leopard print.

-Get an extra long black belt. Once you have it on, make sure the leftover belt hangs. Then move the front part of the belt behind you, and that’s your tail!

-For the ears, try to find a cat-ear headband at a CVS, Walgreens, Target, costume store, etc. If you can’t find one, grab a headband and cut out two construction paper ears (probably in black). Tape or super glue the ears to the headband. Make sure to be patient if you use glue!

bubble tea

You can get a bit creative with this! Here’s what you’ll do:

-Choose a plain dress or shirt of your favorite boba tea color (maybe a light brown).

-Cut out big circles of construction paper (brown or black paper).

-Then, stick them on the lower part of the shirt or dress with stick-on velcro or good tape.

-Next step can go two ways:

-Cut out a medium-large rectangle of construction paper (Pink or Red) and stick it at a diagonal angle on the top of the shirt or dress.

-Another way to add the straw is to make a cylinder with pink or red paper. Then tape or super glue so it stays in shape. After it dries, tape or superglue the cylinder slightly to the side of the headband.

greek god/goddess

Want to show your love of Greek mythology? Here’s what you’ll do to create a greek god/goddess costume:

-If you don’t have a toga, grab a fitted sheet.

-Wrap the sheet around yourself. Take the back and front of the fitted sheet. On the left or right, then tie it together over your shoulder.

-Next, find a pair of sandals or flip-flops.

-If you can find fake leaf vines, make a crown for your head.

-For medium or long hair. Be creative! I’m no where near a hair expert. But thank the Greek gods for Youtube tutorials!

yearbook

This one is a very simple and creative costume. Here’s what you’ll do:

-Grab a plain-white t-shirt that you’re alright with getting marks on.

-Get a bunch of black sharpies! (At Least three)

-Then write on the shirt in big letters’ Yearbook.’

-Make sure to carry the sharpies with you when you go out. Then go around asking people to sign your yearbook!

camp counselor

Remember your days at summer camp? Relive them again by dressing up as a camp counselor! Here’s what you’ll do:

-Find a slightly big t-shirt, shorts, belt, tennis shoes, tall colorful socks and a whistle necklace. Add a colorful name tag!

-Make sure to tuck the t-shirt into the shorts.

witch

Want to go classic? Then be a witch! Here’s what you’ll do:

-Find black or dark purple clothing to wear.

-Buy a witch hat at CVS, Target, Walgreens, Amazon, costume store, etc.

-Use your Swiffer as your broom!

zombie

Obsessed with “The Walking Dead”? Dress as a zombie! Here’s what you’ll do:

-Find clothes you don’t mind staining or ripping.

-Go crazy with how dirty and destroyed you want the clothes to look.

-Buy white and red face/body paint. Use white face/body paint to make your skin look undead.

To create fake injuries:

-Take any size band-aid you want. Cut off the longer sides (not the shorter sides). Make sure you have ended up with two thin strips. Then put them on the sticky side with the strips sticky side facing up.

-Next, cut a slit in the center of the bandaid (probably where the cloth part is.)

-Next put it in the desired area. (Face, arm, hand, collarbone, leg, etc.)

-Next, take a thin makeup or paintbrush and cover the entire thing with red paint. If you have a dark and light shades of red, put the darker shade in the hole area where you made the slit.

-Then around it, blend in the light red. And that’s how you create a fake bloody wound!

vampire

Lover of “Twilight” or “Vampire Diaries”? Then dress as a vampire! Here’s what you’ll do:

-For teeth, you can easily find fake vampire teeth anywhere! But if you want them to be more realistic, I recommend going to amazon and searching for ‘life-like vampire fangs.’ They’re affordable and easy to take off at the end of the night. They’re also less annoying than the typical ones you used to get in goody bags as a kid.

-Where dark clothing!

-Buy white face paint to make your face pale and red for blood around your mouth. If you want to go as a “Twilight” vampire, buy body glitter!

m&m group costume

Dress as the classic candy with your friends! Here’s what you’ll do:

-Find a shirt or plain dress in either red, blue, yellow, green, orange, or brown.

-Cut out a large ‘M’ from white construction paper and stick it on the middle of your outfit with stick-on velcro or good tape.

-Make sure to wear white shoes and ankle socks!

-And finally (optional, of course), if you’ve seen the M&M commercials, you know that each color has its own personality. Maybe act like the color you pick!

Hopefully, one of these ideas has sparked your imagination and spirit of Halloween to dress up. I would still make sure to get your costume done ASAP because the items you need tend to run out or increase in price closer to Halloween. Happy haunting!
