This Miracle Mask Saved my Skin from the DC Winter

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at GWU chapter.

I’m by no means a lover of the winter air. Once December hits, it’s all flakes and dry patches. And sad for me, makeup looks crappy on crappy skin *sheds tear.*

I was simply not having it. So, in an effort to cure my less than radiant skin, I turned to the Instagram-famous Summer Friday’s Jet Lag Mask ($48). I mean, if Kim Kardashian uses it, it’s good enough for me, right?

Founded by mega-influencer Marianna Hewitt (Revolve’s Beauty Influencer of the Year) and Lauren Gores, the ultra-chic and quick cult favorite flew into Sephora and off of shelves in just a year’s time. But, is it actually worth the hype? Well, I tried it out and the short answer is: hell to the yes.

Seriously you guys, stop everything and buy it now—you’ll thank me later. This stuff is no joke.

Here’s why.

Completely vegan, cruelty free and “Clean at Sephora,” Jet Lag is loaded with antioxidants, ceramides and vitamins. It hydrates, nourishes and soothes even the most sensitive skin (trust me, I know) and leaves your face feeling—and looking—dewy to the max. Basically, it turned me into the human incarnation of a disco ball. But, like, in the best way possible.

On day one of my Summer Friday’s experience, I used the mask as told: 10 minutes. Light layer. Wipe off with a warm cloth. As a skincare fanatic whose tested dozens on dozens of moisturizers, believe me when I say the results were unbelievable. My dry patches disappeared, my dewiness went from zero to 100 and my texture was flawless.

Wanting as much out of my little, blue, magical tube as humanly possible, I started to use the mask as my nighttime moisturizer. I lathered it all over my face, under my eyes, put it on my lips (insider trick from celeb dermatologist Shereene Idriss)…the whole shebang. The outcome was un-freaking-real. In a week’s time, my complexion was transformed. I glowed.

The Jet Lag Mask now a staple on my bathroom shelf and a non-negotiable part of my night and morning routine. (PSA: You’ll have a flawless canvas when you use Summer Friday’s as a hydrating primer under makeup.)

Oh, I also have three backups on stand by because #necessities.
