Have you been worried about BookTok’s impending extinction due to the TikTok ban? Or do you want to boycott the meta apps but don’t want to leave Bookstagram? Rest assured, Book lovers have banded together to create an app for our Fantasy/Romance book-lover community.

TOME is an app where fantasy/romance book fans can completely immerse themselves in a community where they can express their thoughts on their favorite series through blog posts, videos, or memes. The app was recently launched on January 28, 2025, so your favorite book influencers are still moving to the social platform.

The platform format feels as if Tumblr and Goodreads had a baby, with the blog post scrolling like Tumblr and seeing star reviews of books similar to Goodreads.

As an avid fantasy reader and doom-scroller, I wince whenever I’m on my FYP (cause somehow it knows what book series I’m reading) because I always end up seeing a spoiler. To my fellow readers, this feels like a knife to the heart. Although every book influencer is responsible for giving a spoiler warning before sharing their video, that is rarely the case. One of my favorite features about TOME is that you can turn on a spoiler warning with a switch. This saves time for book influencers to create and post instead of adding an extra piece that warns their followers. Since this app is less than a month old, the developers still have to squeeze out the bugs and form it into the perfect shape for their viewers; it might not be as enticing initially. But I implore you to download the app and set up your profile before the waves of readers flock over.

If you always wanted to be a book influencer or an author who wants to get their book out there, this app is for you. Get started on TOME and build your platform on an app without top book influencers. Unlike the toxic algorithm on the meta apps, this app can show your profile to more people. As a writer/aspiring author, starting to share my novel and writing process is a great starting platform. Of course, I’m not saying you shouldn’t start on one of the major apps and build your platform there. Still, with current politics, this is a great alternative for my fellow readers and writers.

Within the last 48 hours, I have familiarized myself more with the app. I customized my profile and made my first few posts, some book reviews, and others about my writing journey with my novel series. For my fellow aspiring authors, go to TOME! As soon as I posted, I had likes, comments, and even new followers eager to see a new author in the wild! If you are shy, this app is just for you! The community on TOME is so kind!
