Name: Julia Susuni

Year: 2014

Major: International Affairs

Hometown: Cherry Hill, New Jersey

What influenced you to attend GW?

I really love D.C. and I love the city environment.

What organizations are you involved in here?

Student Association, GW Women in Business and Alpha Delta Pi Sorority

What are your plans for the election?

The mentality behind it is that we have so many resources that we need to take advantage of, and we need to use what is available. I want to continue what has been going on but also build it up and increase the quality of our resources. Some of the plans include: Putting Trader Joes on GWorld, increasing student space, moving student health on campus and better utilizing the space we have in residence halls.

In regards to student organizations, I want to streamline most of the processes for student organizations, making financial process of getting money easier and more transparent.

For career services, I want to work with alumni to foster a better connection between alumni and students. I want to make a database for alumni so that students can become mentees to them, therefore expanding the quantity and quality of career opportunities.

How do you handle your schoolwork with all of your responsibilities?

School is always a priority. I am a student first and everything else comes later. I always prioritize schoolwork, so if I realize that I have a lot of extracurricular responsibilities coming up, I carve out time for my schoolwork and then do everything else after.

What would you say is one of your greatest achievements?

I am very fortunate to be a part of SA this year. I am the Vice President for Public Affairs, Communications and Public Relations. It is really rewarding to be a part of this organization when we increase communication and transparency, engaging students more.

What is one of your biggest goals in and out of school?

My biggest goal is to do good things on this campus. When I graduate, I want to look back and say “Maybe I didn’t make the biggest impact in the school, but I came and made things better.” This is an incredible school and I want students to take advantage of the opportunities and resources we have here.

What are your plans for after graduation?

I am still working on it. I currently work at a start up company. I enjoy taking something new and building, expanding and creating something out of nothing.
