On May 1st at approximately 10:30 PM, when the news broke that President Obama was going to give a speech regarding the death of Osama bin Laden, mayhem spread around GWU’s campus instantly. Chanting was heard from every which way. Students dropped everything they were doing—even studying for their finals. It didn’t matter that people had finals the next day…they made a mad dash for the White House. Going to school in DC gave the students of GWU a chance to experience history in the making. By 11:00pm the area in front of the White House was mobbed with GWU students carrying flags, wearing red white & blue, and cheering. It was an unreal experience.
