As we say so-long to summer and look forward to autumn, we can finally start pulling our key fall fashion pieces out of the closet again! Here are five cute ways to rock one of our favorite fall patterns, flannel:
1. The Boyfriend look – no boyfriend necessary! Headed to class or to the library to get some work done? Whether you’re hitting the books or running errands around Foggy Bottom, this is a great go to look for your flannels this fall. Throw on a pair of distressed boyfriend jeans and pair your flannel with a comfy scarf (and slouchy beanie if the weather permits!) to complete your look.
2. Office Friendly Flannel – Even if you’re headed into the office you don’t have to compromise comfort or style! Layer your favorite flannel under a solid knit cardigan or sweater for an “office friendly” look. Pair your layered flannel with a chunky statement necklace or watch to complete your outfit.
3. The Just-In-Case Flannel DC weather is almost as unpredictable as my chemistry professor. If you’re headed out for the day and don’t know what to expect, go ahead and tie your flannel around your waist! Problem solved: trendy and prepared for any weather. Don’t be afraid to mix neutral stripes with plaid for a spin on the otherwise preppy look.
4. The Classic Vest Combo If you’re headed to your morning class but it’s a little chilly out, go ahead and throw on a vest over your flannel. This classic combo can’t be beat especially when paired with jeans and a trendy bag! If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
5. The Monochrome Flannel If you’re like us and your wardrobe consists of black boots, black leggings, black tops, and well, all black everything, a flannel is a great way to add a pop of color and dimension to any all black ensemble. Bonus: swap out your flannel for a leather jacket for a quick day to night outfit change!
