Hey Guys! So for Campus Celebrity this week, we are helping Elizabeth Kennedy, Sister of Delta Gamma and GW student, campaign to be elected as the Senator of the Elliott School of International Affairs. We asked about Elizabeth’s motives for running and why we would want to elect her, and here is what she has to say about it! Vote for Elizabeth Kennedy!
“Im a freshman in the Elliott School and a proud resident of Boston, MA. At GW I am in the International Affairs Society, GW College Republicans, the Lebanese Club as well as a proud member of GW Greek life as a sister of Delta Gamma. And for all you athletes, I work in the Athletics Department of GW working in the finance department to ensure you get the equipment, buses, etc. that your team needs. Currently my career in politics has consisted of 4 years in the Massachusetts’ State House working for various representatives and senators along with the Speaker of the House. My family has always been huge advocates of public service- my parents actually met on a campaign. I have been raised with the belief that true happiness comes from the service of others and that no one is “insignificant” and everyone has the right to be heard. My platform consists of three main parts- 1. A greater student participation through “assistant positions” to the SA which will be made up a students across the GW campus to help senators better represent their constituents. 2. Better representation of student organizations with the help of student assistants by acting as liaisons between the SA and orgs themselves so they can hold more joint events and make better use of SA funding. 3. Extension of study space by extending the hours of the Elliott School that will help the entire GW community. I would like to tackle these basic issues first before going on to larger projects such as J Street, etc.”
