That Awkward Talking Phase

Have you ever hit that two month mark and you are still unsure of what you and him are? Yup. I have been there. Actually, I am there. Did he just waste two months of my life? Maybe. Does he even like me? Probably not. Do I bring up the conversation myself? I wish I knew.

I have been with the same guy for about two months. He is a cool guy, nice, outgoing has friendly banter. Just my type. All in all our relationship is good stuff. But… it has been two months. I feel as though I am the only one in this relationship that feels like we might be exclusive. When is the right time to have THAT conversation. Is he looking elsewhere? Am I making the cut?

My answer is… I think…yes. Have the conversation. I mean, I am not going to ask him to be my boyfriend or anything, but it has been two whole months of “dating”. I think by now he should know me well enough to know whether or not I am the only girl he wants to hang out with at the moment. I mean, for other health purposes I should know what is up.

This is a conversation that might get a little tiny bit awkward, but, I have come to terms with the fact that it is about time it happens. Here is how I plan going about this awkward two month conversation.

These conversations are never easy, always awkward but I think necessary for the purpose of my mental and physical health. I plan on making this conversation as simple and as casual as possible. Next time we are alone, I am just going to directly ask if we are exclusive. Are you getting with other girls? Are we like, exclusive? If all goes well, he would say yes, but knowing me he will probably say no. Best case scenario, it all works out and I get the answer I am looking for. Worst case scenario, he says he is not sure and doesn’t want to limit himself to one girl.

My advice would be, don’t settle for the answer you are not looking for. If he doesn’t want to be exclusive after two months, if he is still unsure after consistently “dating” for two months, then I would cut the tie. Putting your all into a relationship and not having it be reciprocated is probably one of the worst feelings. So have the conversation and don’t settle for something you deep down know you don’t want.
