4 Underrated Clothing Brands for Your Winter Wardrobe

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at GWU chapter.

With the upcoming holiday season, finals, and the drastic change in the DC weather, we all will need to be shopping for new clothes. But, I want to share brands we used to love that we have lost interest in, and also two brands we need to pay more attention to as a retail option. Below are the top four most underrated brands in retail.

1. Target

The first underrated brand is Target. Yes, everyone loves target at anytime of the day and for literally any purpose, or there could be no purpose but going to Target just felt right. But, do not overlook their clothing section. Target offers great affordable brands like wild fable or clothing catered to more business professional attire like prologue. Recently, some targets are also selling Levi jeans at a cheaper cost around $45. Also, do not forget to check their pajama section because it tends to have great sweatshirts and sweatpants that are not sold as “day clothing” but are totally acceptable to wear outside.

2. Amazon

Amazon is used literally for everything by everyone; from pencils to food, we all use amazon on a daily basis. But, I have recently explored the clothing section in amazon and I have not been disappointed. I purchased great leggings, cute handbags, and sweaters all at a reasonable price. They also do offer boutique style clothing through their exclusive releases under “The Drop”. This is a 36 hour speed sale of a limited collection by a designer exclusive to Amazon. All of the products are hand made so they do take longer to deliver, but they are trendy and great quality. Now, I do recommend reading the reviews for each product for sizing references to ensure proper fit. If there are photos for a product, I do tend to purchase it since I can see the quality of the good I am getting as well. But, do not just use amazon for day to day goods, use it for clothing as well. Plus, nothing can beat the next day delivery.

3. Pacsun

In the current day, Pacsun is not as appreciated as it was in 2015. With the popularity of Urban Outfitters, Forever 21, and H&M, Pacsun has been forgotten. But, it has such great deals and great basics that we all need to shop there more. Also, their Kylie and Kendall collection has some great going out pieces of clothing at a more affordable price while maintaining good quality. Another additional benefit to Pacusn is the partnership with Brandy melville. This makes it easier to purchase products from two stores but only go to one place or website. Even though it does not have the brand variety as Urban Outfitters or the fast-fashion of Forever 21, Pacsun is a great company that needs more attention in today’s culture.

4. Abercrombie and Fitch

Now, this brand may come as a shock as being underrated due to their past scandal with body shaming. But Abercrombie has truly done a 180 degrees change with their branding. They now are showing models of all sizes wearing their clothes and their sizes are more accurate as well. Adding onto this, their clothing has become more focused on simplistic quality pieces in comparison to their old style of clothing with abercrombie written all over them. Since they are in a state of rebranding, there are constant promotions which makes their clothes more affordable and attractive since they all have deals related to them. I recommend shopping at Abercrombie when pricing is at the buyers advantage because who does not want a good deal?!

Overall, these brands have been overlooked but hopefully you all be able to appreciate the amazing clothing they offer during a time of hectic shopping due to holidays, exam stress, and retail therapy needs.
