Meet Campus Activities Board Co-President, Connor Myhre!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Gustavus chapter.

Connor Myhre, a junior Communications Studies major, has been involved on the Campus Activities Board here at GAC since he was a freshman—getting his start with publicity and then this year being chosen to serve as one of two co-presidents on the board along with fellow junior, Megan Kallestad. Connor; an energetic, passionate, and adorably quirky individual, spends most of his time on campus working on CAB events, but still somehow manages to make time for daily Gustavus Choir rehearsals and a new fall internship at St. Peter’s Swedish Kontour. Right now, CAB is super busy getting ready for Homecoming happening this weekend so it’s the perfect time to check in with Connor on how things are going for the board.

What are your responsibilities as a student leader on CAB?

“As one of the co-presidents of CAB, our job is to really facilitate what happens on the Campus Activities Board. We plan all of the meetings and lead them, we help the executives in planning their events when they need it, and we represent the board at different college functions and also at conferences, whether they’re regional or national. We help brainstorm, support the executives in everything they do, and make sure their events go off as fantastic as they plan them to be.”

What is the best part of being involved with CAB?

“100% being able to see all of the incredible things we produce. When we look at Homecoming, President’s Ball, and Hunter Hayes and seeing that happen from start to finish, how wildly successful it all was, and how many Gusties just had the times of their lives there, is really rewarding. I absolutely love it.”

How are homecoming preparations going?

“Fantastic! Homecoming is going to be a blast this year. As of now, we have 13-15 student orgs signed up for the Lip Sync Battle. Then we have the Pizza-Off where we’re bringing in over 200 boxes of pizza from Godfather’s, Domino’s and Jake’s. We have window painting and medallion hunting happening earlier in the week, the T-shirt giveaway, and again we have Insomnia Cookies on Friday night at 11:59 p.m.! Saturday we’re giving away foam fingers at the football game, there’s the movie, Nerve, and nachos happening in the Arb at 8 p.m., laser tag on the football field at 8:30, and KDWB is coming down to DJ the Dance Party happening in Alumni from 9 p.m. to midnight.”

What homecoming event are you most excited for?

“The Lip Sync Battle because it’s so cool to get all of these student organizations involved! Also, laser tag and the KDWB Dance Party are going to be off the hook—it’s going to be so awesome.”

What else should Gusties know about you?

“I worked as a Ninja Turtle at Mall of America this summer!”

Fave caf food?

“Swedish meatballs, but I also like Chicken Kiev day. I don’t like the Chicken Cordon Bleu—I don’t believe it meat being stuffed in other meat, that’s weird.”

If you had an unlimited budget to spend on an event for Gusties, what would you plan?

“One word—skydiving.”

Any last thoughts to leave us with?

“Come to Homecoming! The E-board for CAB is so excited and proud to bring all of these activities to Gusties so they should all come check them out!”
