Five Starbucks Menu Hacks from a Real Barista

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Gustavus chapter.

When you spend all summer working at a Starbucks, you learn the best drink hacks. I have decided to let you in on the insider secrets, so here’s the five best drink hacks that I discovered this summer:

1. Blonde espresso in EVERYTHING

You can substitute regular espresso with blonde espresso in any drink for free. It’s got more caffeine, as well as a lighter, smoother taste. It’s my favorite thing in the whole world, so give it a try.

2. The blended pink drink

Ask for a regular pink drink, but blended. The result is more smoothie-like and so good. Also, you can do this with the mango dragon fruit with coconut milk, or the violet drink.

3. The Cinnamon Roll Frappuccino

Getting a birthday drink, or just want to treat yourself? Try the cinnamon roll frappuccino. The recipe? Ask for a vanilla bean frappuccino with white mocha, cinnamon dolce syrup, and cinnamon dolce sprinkles on top. It’s so good.

4. Citrus Defender/Medicine Ball teas

If you’re feeling sick, these teas are the way to go. The citrus will boost your immune system and have you feeling better in no time.

5. The Brownie Frappuccino

This one is the invention of one of my coworkers, and it’s so good. Purchase a double chocolate chunk brownie and ask your barista to blend it into a white mocha frap with cold brew whip cream and mocha sauce on top. Warning: no guarantees that you barista will do this for you, but it doesn’t hurt to try! It’s worth it.
