Throughout the past school year I found myself constantly searching for movies to watch on Netflix during my free time and I ended up watching these eight. Not all of them are great, some are honestly cheesy and terrible, but they all managed to keep me interested throughout the entire film. With the semester winding down and summer finally beginning you might find yourself with a lot of free time. What better way to pass some time than by watching a movie? So, why not give one of these a try!

1. Dude

This film is mainly about four best friends who negotiate major life changes during the last few weeks of high school. The movie features Lucy Hale who many know from the television series, Pretty Little Liars. The film shows the adventures the friends go on, challenges they go through, and it is honestly pretty funny and interesting. Overall rating: 8/10.

2. The First Time

I watched this film super late on a Tuesday night. It is about a high school senior named Dave who is in love with a girl at his school who is way out of his league. The movie also focuses around a girl named Aubrey, who has a boyfriend who just isn’t right for her. Dave and Aubrey go to different schools, but meet one night outside at a party. The two get to talking and there is an instant connection and after a few days the two find themselves discovering what it is like to fall in love. Overall rating: 8/10.

3. 6 Years

This is another film that I watched late at night and the ending of it really annoyed me, but the overall film was interesting in my opinion. The film focuses on a couple (Dan and Melanie) who have been together for 6 years. After Dan receives a job at a record label, which he loves, their relationship gets to be a bit rocky. After a while, Dan is offered a job out of state and he has to choose between Melanie or his future dream job. Overall rating: 7/10.

4. The Girl From The Song

I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this film when I started it. It honestly starts out a bit boring, but I am glad I stuck with it. Towards the end of the film I didn’t want it to end! It has made me want to attend the Burning Man festival myself. The film is about a musician named Eric who falls in love with a college student named Jo. Events occur and he finds himself traveling to the middle of a desert in Nevada to the Burning Man festival to get back the girl he fell in love with. It is actually such a cute movie! Overall rating: 9/10.

5. Be Somebody

I was a little skeptical of starting this movie because I was never really about “Magcon” and “Vine famous people” when that was a thing and the lead role actor in this movie (Matthew Espinosa) was a part of that. I figured it was just going to be a super cheesy movie, which ok it was a bit cheesy, but it was also super cute, especially for those who have ever gone through a little “fangirl” stage. The movie is about a popstar named Jordan Jaye who is super famous, but wants to live a normal life like a regular teenager. He gets chased down by some crazy fans and is rescued by a high school art student named Emily. Emily isn’t much of a fan, so she doesn’t freak out and it’s quite awkward at first, but after spending some time together the two realize that they do have things in common. Jordan stays with Emily for a few days and by the end they find themselves being good friends, and even lovers. Overall rating: 8.5/10.

6. Starstruck

I hope everybody has seen this Disney channel movie! It’s cute, cheesy, and I guess overall just a fun film to watch. It is about a girl named Jessica who joins her sister on a trip to Los Angeles from Minnesota. Jessica plans to visit her grandparents and her sister plans to meet her idol, pop star Christopher Wilde. One night Jessica accidentally comes across the Pop star and the two find themselves going on adventures throughout Los Angeles and creating a friendship, or so Jessica thought. When she returns home, the pop star pretends that he has no idea who Jessica is and never met her, which tears her heart into pieces. Overall rating: 9/10.

7. Beauty And The Beast

Everybody loves a classic. Enough said. Overall rating: 10/10.

8. A Cinderella Story

This is another must-see film! If you have already seen it, it’s definitely one of those films that you can see multiple times and still enjoy. The movie is about a teenage girl named Sam who is forced to work in her stepmother’s diner as a dishwasher, janitor, and server. One day Sam mixes up phones with somebody and she accidentally begins messaging and emailing a boy. The two agree to meet at the school dance, but before that happens Sam finds out who the boy is. The boy is a member of the football team, the cutest boy in school, named Austin Ames. Of course Sam is intimidated and she works to find ways to make herself seem cooler so that she is “good enough” for Austin. This film is a love story that you don’t want to miss out on. Overall rating: 10/10.
