Top 4 Apps That Don’t Require Internet

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Guelph chapter.
  • Heads Up!

Ellen DeGeneres’s version of charades is a hoot to play with friends. You pick from a themed deck of cards, place your phone on your head, and whoever you’re playing with must act out or describe what it is for you to guess. This is a great game for long road trips or a quick study break with your buds.

  • The Room

This is almost like a virtual reality app with 3D interactive technology and multiple boxes to try to unlock. Essentially, it is a mystery within a mystery. I find it extremely enjoyable, fun, and a great way to get the noggin gears going. I highly recommend giving this game a try if you’re into solving puzzles. The only downside is that the free version doesn’t last very long, so you’ll have to put down a couple of bucks to upgrade and buy the full version.

  • Merged!

This game involves merging dice of the same colour to eliminate them from the playing board. It’s easy, but very addicting and is a great way to pass the time especially for that bus ride home. You can even attempt to beat your own high score each time, making it a game within itself.

  • Crowd City

Choose your character and travel around the city gathering a crowd. You can consume your opponent’s crowd if they are smaller than yours. The goal of the game is to try and become the leader of the city by having the largest crowd. Each time you win a “run”, you get points towards your overall score and you can unlock different skins for your character to wear. This gives you a “boost” by making your starting crowd size bigger than the default and “lower leveled” skins. Each run only lasts about 2 minutes, so you can sneak in a game whenever you have a few minutes to spare!
