This year’s Halloween celebration will look unique compared to past festivities due to COVID-19. However, as much as we may want to join up with groups of friends and celebrate like old times, it’s important that we listen and abide by public safety measures to do our part in reducing the spread of the virus. Without further ado, here are some ideas for some activities to do at home for a COVID safe Halloween!

1. Pumpkin Carving

Nothing screams Halloween to me like good old-fashioned pumpkin carving! Gather your roommates or family members and join teams or carve individually. For extra fun make it a competition! Choose a theme for your pumpkins and after finishing carving send pictures of your pumpkin to friends and family members to tally votes and determine a winner.

2. Halloween Movie Night

While I personally do not enjoy too many Halloween movies (as I am not a horror movie fan), there are still plenty of favorites that I enjoy. Gather with your housemates to enjoy a Halloween movie night. Bring in miniature candy bars and snuggle up to watch your favourite flick. My personal favourite non-scary Halloween movies include It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and Addams Family Values.

3. Costume Contest

Even though you’re not going out for Halloween this year, doesn’t mean you can’t dress up! Make it a fun game composing various costumes from items you already have in your wardrobe and see who can come up with the most creative costume!

4. Halloween Baking

A quick search on Google or Pinterest will reveal a plethora of cute and creepy Halloween themed treats. Have a night of baking Halloween sweet treats to celebrate the holiday!
