It’s October, which to most of us means midterm season. While it’s important to study for your midterms it’s also important to take a break. Here are six things you can do this October to get into the fall spirit.

1. Halloween Movie Marathon

Halloween provides the perfect opportunity to grab a bowl of popcorn and hold a movie marathon with your friends. Whether you watch a string of horror flicks or if The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown is more your speed, hosting a movie marathon is a great way to take a break and have a relaxed night with friends.

2. Walk Through the Arboretum

The arboretum in fall is beautiful. Grab a hot chocolate and take a walk through it before all the leaves fall off the trees.

3. Pumpkin Everything

With October comes the inevitable pumpkin craze. Pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin pie, pumpkin chilli, pumpkin is literally added to everything come fall. Pumpkin carving is a fun way to show your artistic or not so artistic side and get into the fall spirit.

4. Farmers’ Market

Guelph holds a farmer’s market which occurs every Saturday throughout the whole year. However, in the fall it’s particularly worth the visit, with pies and fresh apples being sold outside.

5. Apple Picking

October is the last chance for apple picking season, so make sure to go while you still can!

6. Buy Buckets of Candy

One of my personal favourite things to do is wait until Halloween is over and then buy large quantities of candy that people will doubt your ability to consume. All the stores want to get rid of it so you can usually buy them on sale for really cheap which is great for the wallet but not so much for your teeth.
