Tinder is most likely the number one dating app in 2016, especially at Georgia State. Just about every one of my (single) friends have it.

Some people have wonderful success stories of meeting their bae on Tinder, while everyone else has horror stories that you and your bestie laugh at later.

Being that Tinder is a popular dating app for college students, why would Georgia State men and women in a school with more than 30,000 students need a dating app?

I find myself literally running into dozens of guys each and every day, but the second my phone notifies me that I have a new match, I am ecstatic!

Then the ‘match’ messages me. The message ranges from a booty call to “Hey beautiful.”

Honestly, 9 out of 10 times, I don’t respond. Why would I do that? I swiped right in hopes that “Matt, 22” would swipe right for me and we’d instantly fall in love over coffee and walk our dogs together into the sunset.

Instead, I move right back to swiping.

The only revelation I can come to is that this is all from pure boredom, or that Tinder is a fun game involving humans and their emotions. Depends on how you look at it, really.

I swipe when Netflix is down. I swipe when I’m waiting for Panther Express. I swipe while I’m waiting for my microwavable mac and cheese. I swipe before bed. I swipe when I wake up.

In all honesty, I probably do not have time for a relationship and do not really care about matching with my ‘swipe-mate’. Somehow, I still fall back into my same swiping habits.

I yearn for the days of exchanging eye contact with the cutie in my Jour 1000 class, while daydreaming about the day that he’d notice me and we’d live happily ever after.

Maybe swiping is better than the disappointment of a crush or fear of rejection. The only real fear of swiping is accidentally hitting ‘Super Like’.

Whether you swipe for seriousness or swipe for fun: Swipe on Panthers, Swipe on.
