She came into my life in middle school, and she hasn’t left since. She has caused many nights of anxiety and late-night stress. Her name is Procrastination. Here are 3 tips I use to keep her at bay.

1. Play music that helps you stay motivated and focused.

Music is a great way to stay focused and motivated when you’re working. My playlist consists of anything from Drake to Chilhop to even classical music. Putting on the right song can help the time pass by. One minute you can be working on one assignment, and the next thing you know, you have completed all of your tasks for the day.

2. When you have energy, DO IT!

Just like every other person, I have my lazy days. On the days where I feel energetic and productive, I knock out as many assignments as possible. It doesn’t matter if the project is due today, tomorrow, or even a month from now. When I have the energy to do it, I go ahead and do it. You’ll be thanking yourself later when that due date comes, and you can relax knowing you already completed the assignment.

3. Think about your future

I often use my future as a motivator. I always tell myself, “Amber, This work will all be worth it at the end.” Sometimes you have to remind yourself of your future goals and where you want to see yourself in life. Thinking about my future honestly gives me enough motivation to get out of my bed and work hard.

I hope these tips help in your battle with Procrastination. Just keep working hard on whatever goals you are striving for, and you will reach them. Don’t let Procrastination become a barrier.
