With this past week’s theme being GC Pride, Her Campus Grinnell wanted to call attention to the unsung hero of the athletic community: Sylla Lowther. Always sporting some Grinnell College apparel, this magician with wraps and ice is responsible for making sure every athlete donning the Honor G is able to compete at their highest level.

Sylla’s degrees- Certified Athletic Training and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist- demonstrate her deep understanding of the intricacies of maintaining optimal physical health when competing at a collegiate level. She also also a caring and compassionate presence. Her long-term residence at Grinnell College has made her a staple in the Grinnell Community and admired and appreciated by athletes, coaches and Grinnellians, alike.

So this week, when you are wandering the halls of the bear- maybe procrastinating your lift, or trying to work out in preparation for 10/10, swing down to the training office and say hello… or if you are lucky (and very nice), she may even sing Jingle Bells for you.

Dana Sherry is a Her Campus Contributing writer from Brooklyn, New York. She is a History major and a record-holding member of Grinnell's conference-winning swim team. Do not be fooled by the Lilly and bows: in her spare time, Dana is a dirty rap enthusiast and analyst. She also enjoys house music, interacting with small children and has an extensive collection of Essie and OPI nail polish that she (usually) does not mind sharing with her grateful friends.
Katy is the Her Campus Correspondent for Grinnell College. She is a junior psychology major and plans to go to graduate school for clinical psychology. In her spare time, she enjoys photography, skiing, shopping, expanding her music collection, traveling and of course, coming home to her dogs (and the rest of her family).
