Remembering to Give Back This Holiday Season

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Gonzaga chapter.

Going home for the Holidays is always exciting, whether it’s because you’re through with finals and the semester or you haven’t seen you family for weeks or months. But during those four weeks off, you may find yourself bored due to the lack of homework piled up on your desk or friends to hang out with. A really good way to counter this boredom is giving back any way possible. Now this doesn’t necessarily mean going to a soup kitchen to serve (although that would be awesome), but there are other simple ways to make someone else’s holiday season a little brighter.

1. Bring some blankets and food to homeless or dog shelters.

2. Pay for a stranger’s drink at a local coffee stand.

3. Offer to make dinner for your family one night.

4. Call a friend you haven’t spoken to in a while

5. Donate blood at your local blood bank

6. Bring toys to a children’s hospital

7. Leave a kind note on someone’s windshield

This winter, appreciate your break from school, but also recognize that there are those less fortunate and try to see how you can improve someone’s day!
