Honestly, dressing cute is a lifestyle. It’s not easy finding the motivation to dress nice every day, especially when you have to wake up for 8AM’s and know you’re hitting the gym in a few hours anyway. It’s so much easier to just toss on a sports bra and some sweats, maybe a sweatshirt and flipflops, instead of color coordinating your underwear and organizing an outfit.

Not to mention, it’s not like we have the cash to throw around on maintaining our closets. We have to spend it on food, textbooks, tuition, Uber, and overall living expenses.

With this deadly combination, it’s a miracle that anyone bothers at all. However, it’s actually a lot easier than you think!

Thrift!

Thrift shopping is an easy and cost-effective way to take care of some shopping. With The Arc so close, you can go there for any of your clothing needs, and oftentimes find something worthwhile.

Be Patient!

Find something you like, and wait for it to go on sale. As someone who’s worked in retail I can promise you: just about everything goes on sale at some point. Keep your eyes open, and snag it when it’s the right price for you.

Shop Smart!

Pick clothing that is multi-purpose and goes with everything. For example, yoga pants can be dressed up with a nicer top and shoes, or dressed down with a t-shirt and some vans. Having versatility means that when you’re in a rush, you can grab things rather randomly and still have them match up.

Start Simple!

Looking cute on the daily doesn’t’t have to be all that difficult, if you start slow. Instead of going for heels, a nice dress and cardigan on day 1, wear a nice top instead of a t-shirt, try on some jeans or a skirt to mix it up. Don’t overwhelm yourself.

Accessorize!

Accessories are the easiest way to give an outfit that “put together” and “polished” look. It could be a scarf or hat, or some staple jewelry pieces. I personally like to add a necklace or some rings to spice it up.
