5 Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas for Your Long-Distance Love!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Gonzaga chapter.

Valentines Day is the day dedicated to the celebration of love! In most cases, you’re going to want to spend this day with your significant other, going on a special date and just showing each other how much you truly care. However, when you’re stuck on Valentine’s Day alone due to a long-distance relationship, showing how much you love the person you should be cuddling up next to can be hard.  Here are some fun and easy gift ideas you can give to your significant other to make up for the date you missed out on.

1. “Open When” Boxes

These boxes are a perfect Valentine’s Day gift.  All you have to do is write as many letters as you want, starting with the description “Open when…”.  These letters can vary in time for when you want the other person to open each letter.  Some could say “open when you feel lonely” or “open when it’s our anniversary!”, the choice is entirely up to you! This is probably the most heart-felt choice for a gift.  I can guarantee the one you love will love seeing this gift in their mailbox!

2. Heart-Shaped Pizza!

Okay, everyone loves pizza and if you don’t, you’re missing out! This simple gift and gesture of love is one that won’t last long, but will be unforgettable when your significant other sees it!  First things first, plan a Skype date together, one where you buy each other their favorite pizza and have it delivered to their house.  When you’re calling in your order, ask for them to make it heart-shaped.  Most pizza places will do this for you, and it is such a cute surprise to show your love when your significant other opens their pizza box.  It’s very easy to do and definitely something I am planning on doing this Valentine’s Day!

3. 52 Reasons Why I Love You

Don’t panic! I know 52 seems like a LOT to handle, but each reason is written on a playing card, so it’s not too hard! Write down those favorite memories and things that stand out that have made you fall in love with your significant other, one on each card.  Then, using a hole-punch, tie all of the cards together with a cute cover using one of the leftover cards.  This small token of love will mean so much to the person you are sending it to and will surely brighten their day.

4. Handmade Scrapbook

There isn’t an explanation needed here! Send your loved one a colorful and meaningful scrapbook full of your favorite memories, moments, adventures, everything and anything you could thing of! Although this one takes a little longer to complete, you will be so proud of the outcome, and you will both be able to share the memories kept in this book.

5. Jar of Kisses

I know, I know. There’s no possible way you could send a literal “jar of kisses”. BUT, you can use Hershey’s kisses! Fill up a jar with those delicious chocolate candies and ship it to the person you are thinking of.  It’s a fun and humorous gesture of love, and a quick last-minute gift.

There are endless possibilities for Valentine’s Day gifts you could come up with, but hopefully this article gives you a head start!
