Top Ten Best Things About Spring Arriving

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Gettysburg chapter.

Everyone knows that when Spring has sprung on campus, there is a completely different tone on campus and in all the students!

So here are all the top ten best things (in no particular order) about Spring arriving, even so late in the season.

The Flowers!

All the bulbs have started coming up and showing what we’ve been waiting all winter for! Not to mention all the fields with wildflowers!

Shorts Weather!

While jeans are fantastic, it’s nice to be able to change your wardrobe and open up all kinds of new outfit options.

Of course, it’s always good to keep a couple pairs on standby. Just in case.

The Birds!

All the birds have come back and are hopping around, scrounging in the soil, the fresh mulch, pretty much anything they can get their beaks in!

Studying Outside

While you can do this on your own, sometimes professors will hold class outside as well!

Just make sure to bring your sunscreen, no matter your skin tone! While melanin can help filter out harmful UV radiation, even the darkest skin tones can’t filter it all out and can be at risk of skin cancer.

Here’s a guide for those of y’all with dark skintones to get the best protection with the least chalky residue left behind! Stay safe out there!

Open Windows

Being able to actually open your windows without feeling like your going to freeze is a magical feeling. Not to mention when one of those spring breezes comes through… Ah…

Normal-ish Temperatures

Nothing can beat the temperatures evening out a little so that you aren’t having to shed a thousand and one layers every time you go into a different building.

Why do they keep every building at a new microclimate temperature? The world may never know…

Sunshine

Finally, your Vitamin D doesn’t have to come from a bottle! And you get to soak up the sun while you’re studying!

Happy Dogs

All the dogs are finally able to run around outside to their heart’s content! Or, as far as their leash will let them!

Not Having to Carry Around a Big Coat All the Time

I’m sure your coat rack will thank you for the much needed break!

Sunglasses Season Has Begun

While professionals reccomend wearing sunglasses every day, no matter the weather, sunglasses officially come back into season as soon as April rolls around.

And yes, Transition lens count too!

To summarize, while this author is a huge fan of Fall, Spring is a fantastic transition season that has so much to celebrate!

Make sure to have fun and stay safe out there!
