Q&A

Do you have a favourite sport to play/watch?  A favourite team within it? I’m obsessed with hockey and my favorite team is the Chicago Blackhawks.

Favourite TV show, movie, musical, and song:  go! Um…New Girl/telenovelas (specifically “La Tempestad” and “Grand Hotel”), Sixteen Candles/Breakfast at Tiffany’s/Anastasia, West Side Story, “Una Flor” by Juanes or “If You Were Here” by The Thompson Twins

What’s the number one thing you want to accomplish before graduating from Gettysburg?  Before you die? Before leaving Gettysburg, I want to read every book that is in Musselman Library pertaining to the last Romanovs (Tsar Nicholas II and his family), as well as the first edition of The Great Gatsby that is in Special Collections. However, I would also like to be a vocalist for the Gettysburg College Jazz Ensemble before I graduate. And before I die, I would like to visit all of the Romanov palaces in what was formally known as Imperial Russia.

What’s your favourite fictional pairing?  Why? Rory and Jess from “Gilmore Girls” because I have always identified strongly with Rory and I felt that, in the end, I would’ve wanted Jess because they had the most in common and he challenged her intellect and her entire worldview. He also, as he himself said, knew her better than anyone. I also believe that his love for her was the purest type of love that I’ve ever seen, even if they are fictional characters.

If you lived in a historical time period, what would it be?  Why? I would live in the late Victorian/Edwardian eras, around the years 1890-1910. I love the clothing, the music is incredible, and I love the idea of a simpler, more romantic time. However, I’m not naĂŻve. I know women had little to no rights and weren’t even considered human beings, so when I say I would want to live in that time period, I mean the way it looks in my imagination. Think “Somewhere in Time”, “Grand Hotel” (for my fellow telenovela fanatics), “My Fair Lady”, “Downton Abbey”, and “The Music Man”.

Who would play you in the movie of your life? Zooey Deschanel because I seriously am Jess from “New Girl” (but close backups are Alexis Bledel, Lucy Hale, Emilia Clarke, and Felicity Jones)

What’s one thing about you that most people don’t know? Although most people know that I really like music, I don’t think they know that it is truly one of the most important things in my life, other than my family and my Yugoslavian heritage. I don’t talk about it much because I don’t even know how to put into words the impact that music has had (and still has) on my life and how it has shaped and continues to shape me as a person.

What’s your favourite thing about working with Her Campus at Gettysburg? I really love editing features. While I also enjoy the writing aspect, I eventually want to go into publishing, whether it be books, magazines, etc. I love that at Her Campus Gettysburg I have had the opportunity to edit pieces of written work and to publish them on a public website for young women all over the country to read and enjoy.

If you could only wear one outfit for the rest of your life, what would it be? I would wear a floral sundress, brown leather jacket, brown ankle boots, and feather earrings. A.k.a. channeling Aria Montgomery, my queen.
