My Favorite Coffee Drinks to Make As a Barista

Working as a barista has quickly become one of my favorite jobs I’ve ever had. I really enjoy preparing all the drinks on the menu, and here are some of my favorites!

ICed Lattes

Iced lattes are my favorite thing to make! They are super easy as there isn’t a lot of preparation needed to make the drink. An iced latte is simply milk over ice that is topped with a shot of espresso. At my work, we typically make flavored lattes, which are even more fun, as syrups are added in addition to the espresso.

Frozen drinks

I personally really enjoy making our frozen drinks (which are similar to a Frappuccino). These require a blender, so making them is slightly more laborious. The main reason I like to make these is because they are usually decorated with syrup and whipped cream, which I like to have fun with! The only thing that I don’t like when making a frozen drink is how loud the blender is :(

Hot lattes

Hot lattes are prepared the same way as iced ones, only a little more work is put into them. The milk needs to be steamed for a hot latte which takes more time than simply pouring cold milk over ice. I usually enjoy steaming the milk if it isn’t busy, but when we have a rush this is easily our biggest time consumer. I really enjoy trying to make latte art in the drinks (even though I’m not very good at it).

Hot chocolates

Hot chocolate is probably the most popular drink at our shop. This means it is ordered very frequently so it can sometimes become a pain to make. The hot chocolate is also tedious to prepare as there is chocolate sauce, chocolate powder, and steamed milk in the recipe. This may not seem like a lot but the drink needs to be made a certain way so there’s no clumps of chocolate. I still love to make it though as our customers always say how good it is!

SMoothies

During the summer season we sell smoothies, which definitely has the most ingredients out of all of our drinks. We use fresh frozen fruit which can be really hard to blend at times, so when it goes through the blender we can’t hear anything. I think if it wasn’t so loud preparing these drinks I would enjoy making them more.
