How to Celebrate the Rio Olympics Well-Fed and In Style

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Gettysburg chapter.

Ready, set, go! With the Olympic Games in Rio right around the corner, here are a few ways to get prepared for your game day spirit, even if Rio de Janeiro is not quite prepared yet. NBC will be covering all of your Olympic needs starting August 5th, from the Opening Ceremony to the Closing Ceremony on August 21st. The NBC Sports app will feature a Rio Olympics tab that will replay every gold medal win. Check with your cable provider to see if you are able to access a live stream of every sporting event and, of course, videos featuring the next athlete on the Wheaties box. You will be able to find the entire schedule of events as well. There are a few other apps that contain the daily schedule and select statistics. But as a proud supporter of Team USA, NBC, will be your safest bet.

Maybe you are looking to dress the part of a Team USA fan? Ralph Lauren has designed the Opening Ceremony looks the American Team will be wearing. You can check out Ralph Lauren, Nike, Oakley, and other American companies to find and purchase the same products American Olympians will be wearing for the next two weeks. Below are a few ideas to fulfill your game day outfit:

The ultimate destination to find all your Team USA needs will of course be at teamusashop.com. This Team USA Rio tee will surely support the team in Rio this year. Proceeds of the shirt will go to support Team USA, $21.99.

For all you “Go Getters” out there, check out this shirt from Old Navy. You may not get on the official podium stand, but you can still be #1. $22.94.

Maybe you are going for a more subdued way to support the stars and stripes. These shorts from Spain based company, Zara, are just the answer. $29.90

You do not need a gold medal around your neck to be as quick as Nike. Golden sandals will surely make every shoe fanatic an Olympic fan. This pair from the Meraki Company will bring out your inner Greek Goddess. $52

Watching the Olympics would not be complete without a few snacks. A nacho bar will be a hit amongst your friends. Try drawing some inspiration from the Olympic rings; each color of the Olympic rings can be a different component to your snack. Below are a few suggestions to get you started:

Blue- Blue Corn Chips

Yellow- Cheddar Cheese

Green- Guacamole

Red- Salsa or Tomatoes

Black- Black Olives

White- A dollop of Sour Cream

And be sure to check out Michael Phelps lead Team USA into the Olympic Stadium, Friday at 8 pm ET on NBC!
