When it comes to candy with a gummy or taffy like consistency, things can either go great or annoying. If it’s done right then the candy is a nice treat that can be savored, but if it’s too sticky then it gets stuck in your teeth uncomfortably. Hi-Chew, thankfully, if definitely in the former category.Image via author

This candy, as stated earlier, seems to be a similar consistency to taffy, but is not quite as hard. Hi-Chew is much easier to bite into. Still, it is pretty firm. It holds it’s shape well, even after a full day of being in a pocket.

The taste differs from taffy, though. Hi-Chew has a bit of that plasticy aftertaste most people associate with gum. Indeed, it can be chewed in a similar fashion to gum, but you can swallow it. The flavor is nice and potent without being too strong and doesn’t fade quickly.

I tried the mango flavor and liked it a lot. Their main flavors are strawberry, mango, green apple, grape, cherry, banana, and kiwi. Sour versions are also available.

All in all, Hi-Chew is a pretty solid candy. It doesn’t melt easily, has great flavors, and is easy to enjoy. I’d give it a 10 out of 10!
