A Definitive Ranking of Eateries in the Town of Gettysburg

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Gettysburg chapter.

Next time you and your friends can’t decide where to eat, look to these suggestions of the best (and worst) places to eat in Gettysburg. Most of the places on the list are in walking distance from the college or are just a short drive away. Bon appetit!

1.  Gettysburg Baking Co.: 17 Lincoln Square, Gettysburg, PA

Hours: Tues–Thurs 8 am to 6 pm, Fri & Sat 8 am to 8 pm, Sun 9 am to 3 pm

  • Atmosphere:  Cute little hole-in-the-wall bakery on the square with a very friendly staff

  • What to Order:  Chocolate Chip Cookie

  • Cons: They aren’t open on Mondays

  • Ranking: 10/10

2.  Café St. Amand:  48 Baltimore Street, Gettysburg, PA

Hours:  Mon-Tues 7:30am-3:00pm, Wed-Sat 7:30am-9:00pm, Sun 8:30am-2:00pm

  • Atmosphere:  Cute little bistro vibe with artsy Parisian photo-covered walls and French jazz playing in the background

  • What to Order:  Croque Monsieur (ham and cheese sandwich) with fries (comes with their signature to-die-for aioli), apple tart for dessert

  • Cons: There are rumors around town that this place will be closing down.  They remain on this list because we’re holding on to the hope that this is untrue!

  • Ranking:  9/10

3.  Garryowen Irish Pub: 126 Chambersburg St Gettysburg, PA

Hours: Mon-Thurs 11:00am–9:30pm, Fri-Sat 11:00am –10:00pm, Sun 11:00am-9:00pm

  • Atmosphere:  As close as you can get to an authentic pub in Gettysburg

  • What to Order:  Irish nachos, Reuben sandwich

  • Cons: Can get kind of rowdy at the bar, but the dining area is nice

  • Ranking: 7.5/10

4.   Blue and Gray Bar & Grill: 2 Baltimore Street Gettysburg, PA

Hours: 11:00am-2:00am, 7 days a week

  • Atmosphere:  Typical bar where they serve food

  • What to Order:  One of their Civil War-themed burgers, their amazing chicken fingers and fries (yes, even better than the Bullet Hole), their famous wings, Cajun onion peel, BBQ shrimp

  • Cons:  Pretty crowded, usually hard to get a table (especially when there’s a game on)

  • Ranking: 7/10

5.  Antica Napoli: 39 N Washington St Gettysburg, PA

Hours: Sun 11:00am-10:00pm, Mon-Sat 11:00am-11:00pm

  • Atmosphere: nice little pizzeria, not too crowded

8.  Montezuma’s Mexican Restaurant: ‪225 Buford Ave Gettysburg, PA

  • Atmosphere: hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant

  • What to Order: Chicken quesadilla was pretty good, Lime Jarritos was awesome

  • Cons: I mean, I’m from L.A., so I’m pretty picky about my Mexican food. This is the best that I’ve had in the area, but it wasn’t amazing.

  • Ranking: 5/10

9.  Kaitlyn’s Café on the Square: 1 Baltimore St Gettysburg, PA

Hours: 8am-4pm, 7 days a week

  • Atmosphere: Cute little café, friendly employees

  • What to Order: I ordered a chicken bacon ranch flatbread, which was just OK. The only reason this place is this high on the list is because they serve Mr. G’s ice cream and it’s closer than walking all the way to Mr. G’s from the college.

  • Ranking: 4.5/10

10.  Johnny Como’s Cupcakes and Coffee: ‪62 Chambersburg St Gettysburg, PA

Hours: Sun 9:30a-12:30p, Tues-Thurs 9a-7p, Fri 9a-9p

  • Atmosphere: Retro-style bakery with cool 50’s music, Perry Como’s nephew (Johnny Como) owns and works at the store

Hours:  Tues-Sun 11a-9p

  • Atmosphere: Cute little Mexican restaurant, friendly staff
