BUXOM Cosmetics’ Big Tease Plumping Mascara, based on its description, should be the perfect mascara.

It is promoted as being “long-wearing” and “smudge and flake resistant.” That sounds great! Something that can stay on point throughout an entire day as well as resistant to too much damage? How could it possibly go wrong?

First off, when you bring the brush out of the bottle, a lot of the mascara clumps on the end of it. It didn’t seem to affect the application of it. Except when trying to get the inside corner of the eyelash. I found that it made these lashes stick together uncomfortably.

In addition, despite the smudge “resistance” simply rubbing my eye made the mascara come off on my hand and smudge a bit under my eye (pictured above). And when I put some water my finger to test what would happen when it got wet then it smudged even more. It didn’t run, which was nice, but it gave quite the raccoon look (pictured below).

The reviews of this product also seem pretty divided. Many people rave about it, but there are others who also agree with my experiences. This difference can be seen even in the rating. On the Sephora website this mascara has a 3.4 out of 5 stars. On the Ulta Beauty website it only has 3.2 out of 5. Meanwhile, on the BUXOM website it has 4.1 out of 5 stars.
If you are interested in this product, it is $22 on all three websites for a .45oz bottle. And it is available in Blackest Black, Tropical Teal, and Vivid Violet. It might be worth it just for some of these interesting colors, but that’s up to you.
