Best Movies to Watch on Halloween if You Hate Horror

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Gettysburg chapter.

If you’re anything like me, you love the Halloween vibes but hate horror movies. As much as I may try, I’m never able to get into them! Here are my top Halloween movies to get me in the spirit without freaking me out for days:

It’s the great pumpkin, charlie brown (1966)

I make it a point to watch this on Halloween every single year. I love The Peanuts and this film is an endearing classic

HOCUS POCUS (1993)

What better way to celebrate Halloween than with the Sanderson sisters? This movie has been a seasonal classic for me, and I never get tired of seeing it!

The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975)

This is the ultimate Halloween cult classic with a bangin’ soundtrack! I always try to make sure to catch it when it’s performed on campus.

Beetlejuice (1988)

A modern classic from the one and only Tim Burton! Plus, some ghosts who aren’t too scary and the iconic Winona Ryder.

Young Frankenstein (1974)

This parody of the original classic horror film, starring Gene Wilder and Mel Brooks of course, is the ideal way to celebrate Halloween if you’re looking for some laughs.

You can always enjoy Halloween-themed movies without the horror!
