The Best Eateries in Gettysburg!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Gettysburg chapter.

While there can be a rumor that food in Gettysburg is not that great…I say that those people just don’t know the right places to go! Here are some suggestions of where to go and what to get.

1. Blue and Gray Bar & Grill

Most students know about this spot. Right on the circle in the middle of town Blue and Gray, or B&G as most refer to it as, is easy to find and is in walking distance. While this is a great place to grab a few drinks the food is pretty delicious also. I’d have to say the burgers seem to be the biggest crowd pleaser, but on Wednesday you better be ordering wings! Wing Wednesday is a beloved day for many students, and at a discounted price you can afford them on a college budget! (And for the vegetarians out there…the veggie burger is unreal).

2. La Bella Italia

Referred to as La Bella’s, you can either sit in or take out from this tasty Italian restaurant. It goes without saying that their pizza is incredible. I might even argue that they have the best pizza take out around, which is saying a lot coming from the pizza connoisseur herself (key word being take out because brick oven pizza is another category). Also good here is their eggplant parm or even their lasagna. And if you are looking for an appetizer I highly recommend the bruschetta!

3. Food 101

One of the fairly newer restaurants in Gettysburg, Food 101 became an instant hit for college students. The have a Cesar salad that is perfectly dressed and topped with a parmesan cheese chip, gooey mac and cheese, and brick oven pizza…do I have to say more?

4.Fidler & Co.

This option is a short drive outside of Gettysburg to the town of Biglerville. On Saturday or Sunday I highly recommend going for brunch. Their French toast tastes like dessert, their lemon ricotta pancakes melt in your mouth, and you can’t go wrong with their breakfast pizza. If you aren’t going for brunch their lunch and supper menu is fantastic too! The double cheeseburger is juicy and flavorful and their brick oven pizza is amazing; my favorite being the roasted vegetable.

So if you are getting sick of food from campus and are looking for a meal that is a little less routine and bland, anything off of the menus from these four places will satisfy your craving!
