8 Ways to Celebrate Easter Away from Home

If Spring Break doesn’t line up with Easter weekend, it may be too much to ask to go home for Easter.  Here are some ways to celebrate regardless!

1.  Care packages

If you can get your family on board, have them send you a basket-like care package of your favourite jelly beans, chocolates, etc.!

2.  Have an egg hunt with your friends!

Grab some dollar store plastic eggs and hide them around your dorm, the nearest quad, or wherever you can!  Even better?  Get your favourite club (or local HC chapter!) involved and make it a group event!

3.  Go to church.

For many, Easter Mass is a treasured childhood memory.  If it’s your thing, go to your local church on Easter Sunday!

4.  Eat lots of candy.

You’re sad that you aren’t at home. You’re surrounded by peeps and Reeses eggs.  What better excuse to indulge?

5.  Dye eggs.

Grab your friends and take over the dorm kitchen for a night.   Worried about animal rights?  Check out this cruelty-free version!

6.  Pop in an Easter movie.

Or stream it, whatever.  Whether you’re catching up with the Easter Beagle or Peter Cottontail, you can find all sorts of childhood favourites to rediscover.

7.  Grab an extra-fancy meal.

Restaurants tend to have all sorts of Easter dinner specials.  Why not grab a reservation for you and your pals?

8.  Call your family.

Chances are, as much as you miss your family, they miss you at least as much.  Give your parents, grandparents, or aunts and uncles a call, or even Skype in on the festivities!
