The 5 Worst Aspects of Food Allergies in College

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Gettysburg chapter.

Food allergies are pretty terrible in general, but especially so in college!  Whether you’re out with friends or lounging in the dining hall, there’s always an inconvenience to be had.

1.  Constant questions

Even if you’re 99.9% sure that pasta doesn’t contain shrimp, you should probably ask.  Better safe than sorry.

2.  You probably can’t have that one legendary food.

I’m looking at you, Servo cookies.

3.  “It’s all in your head!”

No, I actually don’t want to blow up like a balloon and die….

4. Allergens EVERYWHERE.

Sorry, cheese allergry.  You’re unworthy.

5.  Constantly Storing Snacks

You have to be prepared for the worst, like a day with no allergen-free options.  Your endless stash will be worthwhile, right?
